A product feed is a file containing information about the products listed on your site. Product feeds are used by e-commerce companies to provide information about products in an online store to search engines, product comparison websites, and other similar aggregators of e-commerce information. By sending product feeds regularly you can make sure these sites display the latest pricing, promotional, or other information for your products.
If you're not sure if you have a product feed, enter your store URL into our Feed Finder and see if we can discover one for you: http://feedfinder.wishpot.com/ Note that if you're in an affiliate program like LinkShare, Commission Junction, PepperJam, ShareASale, or Google Affiliates you may be able to create a feed through them, and the feed finder above would not detect it.
If you do not have a product feed, and you have fewer than 1,000 products, you can create one by signing up at Google Merchant Center and uploading an Excel file - that will give you a Google Base Product Feed. Just make sure your Excel file looks something like this one: http://base.google.com/base/products.xls (they describe the format here)
A Google Product feed gives your products more exposure (products appear in Google Product search) and it is free to use. There is a useful tutorial for getting started with Google Base here. If you have technical expertise, you can also generate and host your own Google Base-formatted feed on your own server. More information on that can be found here.
